Welcome. I would like to buy a locking rear axle for my Aro to better ease in off-road. What do you think about this axis? I've heard that some switching mechanism fails but you can convert it. Fits this axis to older Aro? Please review about the axis of the lock. I have the opportunity to buy and wonder. greetings ;)

The actuator is rubbish, but you can use a bowden cable and spring sistem to get the locker working. The axle will fit, they were the same on all Aro 24X models, the issue is only the gear ratio, but you can change it with you own ring and pinion if is they are different.

ok thanks. So the difference is the gear ratio? And it is necessary to translate them from the old to the axis of the lock?

The gear Ratio COULD be different, but it might be the same.

You need to check. If it's the same (possibly 33/8) then you're set. If not, you need to change the ring and pinion from your old axle to this one.

Most likely the locking axle has 33/8 ~= 4.125 gear ratio.

And what is the ratio of the axis lock? It would be a significant change if I interceded with the axis of the ring and pinion other than that old?

It is vital to have exactly the same gear ratio in front and back. That is why you need to check the ratios on your car and on that locking axle. If you change the ring and pinion from the old axle to the new one, is very important to adjust it properly : http://www.ehow.com/how_2159877_set-up- ... ntial.html

To answer your questions:

1. What is the ratio for the locking axle - we do not know. You need to check yourself. Most likely it would be 33/8 ~= 4.125 but I cannot be 100% sure.
2. If the ratio on the new axle is the same as the old - it's all perfect. If not, it would be extremely bad to run the car in this fashion. Because AROs don't have a center differential (and are always 'locked') it would most likely cause things to break. Soon. In this case you should take the ring and pinion from your old axle and install them in the new locking axle so as to preserve your original ratio.

You can convert a simple axis of the axle lock ON/OFF. There is a possibility?

hi i bought the axle rear with lock.
I checked the ratio is probably 41/11 as well as in the old axis. I just had to change the mode (satellite) has been cut (bad state). I made everything already.

at this moment i worked on on/off difflock:)

Have you installed the locker in your Aro? It it interesting, because in Romania lockers with 41/11 ratio are rare, most of them had 33/8 ratio ;)
